Default Onan JB: An easy question for you JB experts

hello, what pipe size are the threads in the exhaust adapter 155-0170?

I have an old jc and have been looking for the adapter 155-0782 but cannot find it. Are these two the same dimensions?

Thanks

Max,

thanks for the quick answer. but i'm still confused, do you have any part numbers on those flanges of yours?

I guess what matters more than the pipe size is the distance between the bolt holes.

Are the bolt holes the same distance apart on the JB manifold and the JC manifold outlets?

Thanks agian.

A quick check with a pair of outside calipers, they look to be the same. Only one of my JBs has a separate flange, the others all have a “tapped” exhaust manifold. I checked 2 JCs & it appears the flanges are the same as the JB.

Checking some parts manuals shows #155-0782 for the JC & 155-0170 for the JB. It appears all the JBs in the catalogs I have show a tapped exhaust manifold, but also show a 155-1925 flange adapter that will screw into the manifold to convert it to a flange outlet. I did not check the one I have to see if this adapter is in it (it is up high on a shelf & I am too lazy to climb back up).

I would imagine there may be variations with different spec. engines. If you will post the full model # with the spec. letter, someone may be able to give you more info.

With a little more reading, it appears the “flange adapter” was used on the vacu-flow JBs, which is consistent with the sets I checked.

Wow, you really went the extra mile on this answer. I guess I'll take a chance and buy that JB adapter for my old JC.

I installed an Impco propane mixer and have the old JC 12.5 magniciter roaring, but it will be nice to get it muffled down to a purr.

When my JC exhaust flange broke a fellow Stakker came to my rescue with a NOS flange. He made me an offer I couldn't refuse.
