Default needle valve packing

I am working on a 2 HP massey harris type 1 It has a mixer much like a Olds. What can I use as packing where the needle valve goes in to seal it and keep it from drooling. Thanks

Default Re: needle valve packing

I have had very good success with the common graphite impregnated thread sold in plumbing stores. It can be pulled apart a strand at a time to get the right thickness. Cheap. Pack it,snug dow, turn needle back/forth,snug again, turn, repeat until it is packed firmly. Bill
