Default Need help with my 3HP FM-Z

Hello!

I just got my FM Z 3hp back together, and I'm not sure how to adjust the mixer. It's a plugoscillator engine with a gas/kero carb (the kind with the pump in it). The threaded knob that holds down the bowl cover extends down into the bowl and controls the bowl drain. There's also a hole in the knob that allows gas to drain back to the tank.

How high is the gas level supposed to be in the carb bowl? I ask because I have NOT been able to get the engine to run steadily as it should...it will fire, coast, fire, coast a few more turns. The mag/ignitor seems to have a strong spark, but it either is not getting enough fuel or it floods.

I'd appreciate any help with this one...been beating my head against a wall for the past few days.

Thanks...

Chris

Tom -

Governor is free and moves easily. Butterfly is brand new and moves freely. One question - when the engine is not running, is the butterfly supposed to be open or closed?

Throttle butterfly should be open when engine is at rest.
