Default Anyone making replacement venturi's?

I'm working on a few old Holley's & Carter's and all have pot-metal venturi's and (of course) all of the ones I'm working with are crumbling apart. I've been picking-up various parts carbs here and there to try to make 1 good carb out of 2 (or 3, or 4....) and its the same story with them, too. Does anybody know of a supplier of replacement venturi's?

Thanks in advance for any leads.

Someone is or was making them for Zeniths, I bought a few from Fordson House last year.

Thanks.

I just went through their Fordson catalog - they have Holley parts but not for the carburetor models I'm working on. I'll give them a call to check - just in case.

...it sucks not having a mill!!!

You didn't give a lot of info on what model carbs you're working on. I know a guy that does a lot of the brass bowl carters and he may have venturi's for those already made. I think you might find him on the fleabay. If you don't email me and I'll try to find his contact info. are these single or booster venturis? If there single and concentric contact us. Can't help you if they have boosters.

Sorry I was vague - Holley H, Holley K, Carter R-O and Carter DR-O.

I've got an email out to the guy on eBay that works on the Carters - he's got some replacement venturi's listed but for other models. I don't know if they'll interchange and he doesn't have any specs on his listings for me to compare to.

Could you be a little more specific?

There are 15 different Carter R-0, and 38 different DR-0 carbs. We might be able to help with some of them.

Have not reproduced any for Holley.

Jon.

Other than to say that they are for New Way engines, where else on the Carter carbs do I need to look to get more information on the specific model for you? The only designations that I can find on the carbs is just the R-O and the DR-O.

Any help is always appreciated.

I am curious, what do these replaceable venturis look like? All the carbs I have ever handled I assumed the venturi was integral with the carb body casting? Just wonder if my old lathe and mill could produce them?
Is there a picture of these to post?
Thanks

Don't know about the carters, but the zeniths venturies are made out of some extremely poor metal for reasons I've never had explained. I can't remember what it's called, starts with a Z I believe. It would be so easy to cast out of anything else, heck, you could cast em out of glass and they wouldn't be as delicate as the pot metal they used. If you google zenith venturi there's photos that should give you a pretty good idea.

OK, Carter sold New Way 2 different type R-0 carburetors, and 3 different type DR-0 carburetors.

The only one we reproduced is the one for the very latest DR-0.

The good news is that one is available.

The bad news is price. ALL of our parts are made in the USA. I have way more invested in the venturi than the guy on Ebay has his stuff priced.

Carbking;

What makes the difference in the types - governor linkage set-up, venturi size, ???? I'd be more than happy to get you pictures and measurements to find out if you've got what I need. My C-H is currently waiting on finding a replacement venturi to get it going.

Also, just in the for what its worth category, these type R-0 (zero) and type DR-0 (zero), not O (ooh).

This makes more sense if one looks at later Carters ie the W series: the W series came in models W-0, W-1, and W-2.

The WA series, WD series, and BBR series used the same format.

The number following the type was the S.A.E. standard size minus one (don't ask me why it was minus one, I don't know, and none of my friends at Carter 40 years ago knew either).

So if the S.A.E. size is 2 (nominal 1 1/4 inch carb with bolt mounting distances of 2 11/16 c-c) the Carter number would be 1.

The New Way carbs are S.A.E. size one (nominal 1 inch carb, with bolt mounting distances of 2 3/8 or 2 7/16 c-c) so the Carter number is 0.

Not trying to muddy the waters, simply trying to keep semantics correct.

Jon.
