Default Well I made a 7/16-20 glow plug!

Well I got down in the shop this afternoon, fired up the lathe, chucked the Champion 198 glow plug up, turned the body down to .360" from .394", turned the thread OD down to .435", and ran a 7/16-20 tap over it. It doesn't look too bad and a 7/16-20 nut threads right down over it. I was too chicken to turn the tip itself down to .193" from .234". Maybe this weekend when it warms up I'll see if it threads into the head on my DJE.

After turning it down. Do you think there is still enough body for the threads without big risk of cracking?

You’ve gotta post a pic of your modified glow plug!

You can't run down the tip, it's to thin.
I am afraid the diameter of your tip will not fit.
Beware of the copper seal ring
