Hi Jim,

What's the story on the Case? I didn't know the farm had that kind of stuff in their possesion. I saw it sitting outside on the way home from work today (wow, yesterday, need to go to bed!)

Ryan
The case traction engine has been at Lyon's Farm for quite sometime. It belonged to Homer Dixon form Yorkville Il. He had a Case dealership in Yorkville for many years, his name is still on the building in town. The building is right next store to the Fox river.
At one time Homer also owned a return flew Case made in 1886 or close to that date . One of the fella's with Lyon's Farm told me they took there Case down to the Pontiac Show
in 1993 and the other one was there too , and that was the first time they were both together in many years
They just finished getting it all restored ,but the can't run it till they get it tested and certified by the State of Il. They should have it running for next years show . A big hand to the fella's that worked on it, they did a great job!

Very cool! I find parts or invoices and stuff with Dixon Implement stickers on them in the shop every once in a while.

I wonder what the history is behind it or if it is local. I just skimmed through the Kendall Co. Threshing Rings book by Shoger and I didn't see Homer's name in there. I'll have read it one of these days. As interested as I am in local history I have never made it to Lyon Farm. It's on the list for someday.

As a side note, I found this picture somewhere on the internet one time. Andrew Anderson, second from the right in the back row, may be my great, great grandfather. There was an Andrew O. (my g.g. grandfather), an Andrew A., and an Andrew B. in the area so I don't know which one it is. His name is also mentioned in the book. The second picture is supposed to be from the Helmar/Newark area too. I really need to track down somebody that knows about this stuff. Sadly, not many of them left anymore.

I like the Lyons Farm for my last show of the year ! We bring our '57 IH Cub , with a corn "cracker" driven by the PTO , then give the chicken / bird feed out, to the wonderful people that attend ! What are the show dates for the 2014 Fall event ?

Hi Steve, Thanks very much for the invite to your Ottawa "get-together" , but I think I'll take a "regretful" pass on your offer, I just talked to Lee ( vice-president) , he always counts on our staying overnight with our older camper, to look after "things" , so our absence would be missed ! It sound like they are going to do a little "threshing", with the restored steam engine , during the show !
Thanks again, Lee & Marilyn Petrie, Joliet, IL.
