Is that for spectator gate admission, or for vendors selling things, or for collectors to set up displays ?

In any case... that's a chunk of change and doesn't sound like a "Fair Trade" for a 'trade fair'

What kind of a show is it?
Is it a swap meet or a show ?
It it antique windmills, or modern wind power generators ?

WOW!
$50.00 per person for Adults AND Children over age 10
$15.00 for ages 3-10

I hope they're well fed at that Banquet & Buffet

Might be interesting to go on the tour through Fermi-Lab, but at $200.00 for a family of four (assuming two kids over 10) or $100.00 a couple..... OUCH !

They advertise it as "sharing our rich windmill heritage" but they should say "Come help finance our $RICH$ hobby".

For those of you from Rio linda...and apparantly Spring Valley IL who feel the need to fly off the handle with little angry faces about events they are uninformed about I would like to clear a few things up.

1. The windmillers trade fair is held annually in different locations across the country. It is an opportunity for enthusiasts to get together and display, swap, catch up about the windmill hobby.

2. Included in the registration fee are two dinners, an ice cream social, and many events of which there is no additional charge. (which costs $35 to $50 every year)

3. You can come an see the swap and exhibits without registering, thus not costing a dime, or "paying for our expensive hobby"...

4. The IL manufactured equipment display is being planned separately by me as a neat addition to the windmill festivities. There is no charge to display, the only stipulation is that the equipment was manufactured by a company that also made windmills. ie. Stover, Appleton, Challenge, Aeromotor...

If any of you would like to have any further clarification straight from a committee members mouth, please feel free to contact me. I am more than willing to answer questions, and hope to see many of you there. Kyle

Hi Bob and Glenn,

We will set up the equipment display on Friday June 15th in the morning, I will be there starting at 7 am so you can show up anytime. We will then pack up Sat June 16th in the afternoon between 2 and 3. It is basically at our discretion when we pack things up.

Thanks for clearing that up, and I apologize for my part in making matters worse.

I've been eating off the dollar menu too long I guess, and don't go to Banquets and Buffets to know how expensive they are.

At the same time though $50.00 a pop seems a bit pricey, so it's good to hear that spectators don't need to register. (I didn't see that part anywhere in the link provided) Though I'm also sure many of them do still spend a fair share of money on food and other items once they are there.

Hey, no problem Otto-Sawyer, thanks for being man enough to appologize, I appreciate it! This event has been going on for many years and changes locations across the country, so there are many people used to how it works. The confusion begins with me trying to bring in my love of engines and the great people I have met since collecting them and trying to merge the two. This event is not like your usual show and swap meet, it is a much smaller group of people and everyone knows everyone in that group for the most part. Our mistake as a committee was that we marketed like it is every year and did not take into account a different audience and how they would take what we think is business as usual. The other factor is that everything gets more expensive in the suburban areas, including the venue, food, entertainment, and tours. Please trust me that we have done our best to get everyone the most bang for thier buck, as we realize money is tight for everyone, especially after paying the gas to get here. I hope some of you will be able to join us and experience something different. Thanks to all. Kyle

Hey Kyle,

How did the Windmill fair go? Did you take any pictures? Sorry I couldn't make it.
