Didn't catch the show but it might have been a Howard Rotovator.

Was that for doing roadwork? I've seen them used to till the limerock before paving. Was powered by a Detroit Diesel six cylinder. However, I have no idea of the manufacturer, probably Caterpillar.

When I was just out of school I worked a few years on the local road district. We had a large tiller with a Detroit diesel on it ,the thing was self propelled and weighed around 10-12 tons and had the habbit of breaking rear wheels and hubs. It was intended to pulverize the old rough road base so it could be properly graded and packed. When they started to pave the roads it became obsolete as the rotor would launch large chuncks of asphalt and could be quite dangerous. It was manufactured by the Seaman Tiller co, at one time they were very popular around this area, rarely see one anymore. F.J.W.
