Default Unidentified Front Wheel (Rim)

I purchased this rim a number of years ago at a local auction and have been curious what it may be off of. Whatever it is, its big!

The rim is 43" in diameter, has an 8" face, a 1" square skid ring and accomodates 28 spokes (probably round ones). The strap is rather ornate with the corners "knocked off". Traces of faded red paint remain as well. I am thinking it came off a sizeable traction engine, as Prairie Tractors are not native to my area. The gentleman who owned it previously (now deceased) collected just about anything old and made of steel, so anything is possible I suppose.

Without a hub and casting number it really makes things difficult. I figured its size may narrow down the suspects though. Any ideas?
