Battery box metal or wood

Default Battery box metal or wood

I have a fuller Johnson farm pump. I have restored completely accept for battery box . The only one I have seen is on Harry"old engines it had a metal one Does it matter If it is metal or wood. your advise welcomed Don

I prefer wood because of keeping the coil and battery from shorting out on the inside of the box.

The F&J pump engine battery box had a wood bottom and a fiberboard liner that went around inside of steel box. A metal L bracket held the buzz coil upright while the 4 dry cells were bunched next to it.
