Default Lister ST2 no fuel returning to tank?

Hi everyone, I have done as much research as I can to try and put my mind at rest, but to no avail, I hope somebody on here can help me.

My question is, I have no fuel returning from the injectors to the fuel tank, in fact if I take the return pipe off before the filter, its also dry.
The engine is attached to an alternator, its a 1500 rpm air cooled, starts "after about 4 years standing outside" and runs fine, what great engines these are!!!

I can see no external leaks and the smoke is not excessive as if its burning diesel??? I just find it hard to believe that there would be no return to tank.

This set up has an extra engine oil tank set up underneath the engine, and the oil is piped. It has no dip stick, so if the derv is getting in to the oil, it would have to be quite substantial before I would notice it.

So does anyone know if the fuel is returned on this engine? the year identification is 008 no idea what that actually is lol.

Thank you in advance for any help on this problem...Dave..

fuel return is only injector leakings;few drops when running. If not:remove valve covers and check pipes are not broken.

Thank you for your reply, when the weather improves I will take the covers off and check, I was reluctant to do this not having any replacement gaskets.

Cheers Dave
