Default 2017 Canandaigua Show?

This show is not in the show book this year. Did they just miss it or throw in the towel? Thought about getting up there again this year. Was a great show when I was last there about 5 years ago.

Somehow, the word pageant gets lost on me, but I suppose that it derives from the steam engines. The shows that I have been to there had many nice gas engines on display! And, it's where I first came down with the engine sickness.

More time passed and the antique engine bug bit in 1995 when I went to the Canandaigua show for the first time. It had been going on for years not far from us, but they called it a "Steam Pageant" and who the hell wants to go to a pageant anyway. It wasn't long after the show that I got word from a ham radio friend about a Witte engine that was for sale. If you've read my engine and show pages, you know where I went from there!

What good shows are between you and Canandaigua? I am 45 min away.

Canandaigua was my first show as well. It is still a good show. They are building more buildings, and getting more stationary equipment. They often host other shows and that makes it even bigger and better.

Frank, if you have never been to Coolsprings would start with that. Guess that would be pretty much halfway. Haven't been to any others between N.Y. and MD that I would consider halfway but I know there are. Maybe Rough &Tumble show at Kinsers in Lancaster Co.

Yes, I visit Coolsprings and R&T every year. Both great shows and very different. Unfortunate I am hooked and I must find more. Grin.

I really like the term Pageant. That sets it apart of all the other shows
Out there. I would love to go 1 day

It's a good show and a big show with a lot of variety but if you want steam there is more
of that at R&T

Planning on being there again this year too.

I bought my first and only hit & miss engine there, and had fun last year working with the steam engines.

Does anyone know if they've gotten enough stokers for Lucey this year? Lotta talk last year about a shortage of strong backs willing to throw firewood into that monster.
