These engines are in the ocean and exposed at low tide. Located on the north shore of Maui on the Keanae peninsula. I first saw them in the early 80s. They appear to be automotive. Does anything from the remnants look familiar as to there identity? AL

One is a flathead ford v8. Another possibly some kind of straight 6 or 8 marine engine. It could be automotive though.

I know of a small block Ford on the beach in Kahana. It's been there for at least 10 years.
Haven't seen these engines you posted. |

When you take the road down to Keanae they are on the left between these coconut trees in the lava rocks. AL

Went to KEANAE today to get some current photos of the wet engines. To my surprise i found another flat head 4 cylinder engine and the drivetrain parts of a vehicle. It appears to have been a 32-34 Ford model B. Car? Truck? Note the Ford logo still visible cast into the block. I may have found a Ford graveyard. Ashes to ashes cast iron to rust. Gives a new meaning to "Ford Tough."

It would be interesting to see if the insides of the differential survived.

Although it would be a monumental chore, it would be really something to pull an engine like that out of the sea floor and get it going again, all rusted and such on the outside. That would be one hell of a conversation piece at shows, especially when you fire it up. Thanks for sharing Al

Cast iron will survive a lot longer in salt water than steel. Internal parts are most likely far worse than the cast iron case.
