Default Onan Older 2 Cylinder Needs Help!

I have an older Onan engine (welder/generator, I believe 1954 era) that I trying to restore (M# CK-S/259K, S# 124B511486, 10.1 HP @ 3000RPM). I am looking for specifications, service manual, parts supply and any help/advice. Yes I have only one "C" in my model #, just about all of my research has shown two "C", what do I actually have?

NOR, Thank you

You have the CK. Which became the CCK. Your engine was built in December 1954.

rebecn
I have had, fairly good luck with finding, operators and parts manuals on line for my equipment? Free down load, is good.
Google your welder and look for free manuals, ect? There are also, you bye manuals. You might get lucky and find what you need?

Thank you for the info, I will do more searching on the web for a CK manual. I thought it was strange that when I went to our local Onan dealer they never heard of a CK and their listing had only CCK.

I've been excersizing my ck-s/259k as a generator in our last power outage. It has developed an intermittent knocking sound that seems to be coming from the camshaft area...maybe timing chain? Anyway could you email a copy of that manual? - bobby@fspeoples.com
Thx

Default Onan CCK S797F

Engine has ignition prob. Ordered ignition condenser, Coil, and points. When I opened breakler box I found another condenser inside.

Does this engine have two condensers or was there an engineering change and someone forgot to remove the old condenser?

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Can't see any reason for 2 condensors in the one system. Maybe one failed and a replacement fitted elsewhere and wired in place there. I have been using film capacitors instead of condensors over the last couple of years. These are more reliable and can be very small in size but big in capacity so they can be fited almost anywhere. I prefer the ceramic ones over the plastic ones just as a heat shield issue. Try using one with values of 600V and 0.22Mf. No positive or negative sides just insulate one side going to your points with plastic or shrink wrap.

Thank you cobbadog for you help. The second condenser was attached outside the breaker box. I dont remember who/when I had work done on this engine last. It has not been in use for the past 8 yrs or so but did not run correctly when I tried to start it.

Anyway I ordered new points, condenser, and coil and they sent a condenser that matched the one that was attached to the outside of the breaker box.

The engine does not run with the inside condenser removed from the circuit so I am going to replace the coil now and take the cost hit.

Hopefully the pic got attached.

Good news that you have resolved the mystery about the extra condensor. Interesting in your picture that both the points and condensor look very similar to those used on our very early Victa 18 lawn mowers. Those ignition parts were made by Wico out here.
