June 19, 20, and 21, 2014

http://www.smokstak.com/forum/calend...=2014-6-19&c=1

Hey all
It's been touched on briefly here but the brochures are now out.
The 2014 June show @ CPM will be featuring engines made outside the USA. So basically anything from across the pond, Canada or South/Central America. I've attached a picture of the front page of the rack card that Doc Harvey had designed. So if you've got foreign engines we'd love to see them!! And yes Don Selmer, the engine on the card is FINALLY coming...

I was going to go next year, but I figured I would wait to hit it in 2015 for the open flame expo

I kind of feel like Tanner. I have no Hvid engines, so I did not attend this year. I've got no foreign engines except a couple Canadian. I also only have a Paradox toy flame licker engine. If I don't have a decent 'featured' engine, it makes me uncomfortable. I don't want to wait until 2016, don't care to buy a foreign engine, probably can't afford a full-size flame ignition engine, .... guess I have to get uncomfortable.

Please don't ever feel uncomfortable at CPM we love seeing all the engines coming in even if it isn't a feature engine

Cool idea. We have plenty of foreign pieces to bring for 2014, including the Junkers OP.

We will start a thread later on for the 2015 Flame Ignition Expo. We hope it will be equal to or exceed the previous event back in 1995 ( can you believe it was 20 years ago !! ) . And for those who were fortunate enough to attend, you know it was a show to remember.
.
Doug, You do not need to feel embarassed with a Paradox. Although small, it is still a non-compression flame ignition engine, one of several manufacturers who made them. I am sure there will be many in the field that year !
.
For now here is the 2015 brochure:

Hi Doug
Pretty sure we'll be glad to have your Canadian engines!!
I hope you can make both shows feature engines or not. We always try to bring features but not everyone has a HVID or a camstopper. We even failed on the NY engine feature a couple years back even though we have several.
There are very few places in the world I can imagine ever feeling more welcome than CPM. It doesn't matter who you are or what you brought, everyone is there to celebrate our hobby and feed the addiction. All of the younger engineers are a great testament to that. No one is turned away. It's really a great feeling.
I for one don't have a Paradox, I kind of wish I did but have never been able to lay my hands on one. If you don't find a place to display yours in the feature building there will be one feature engine sitting outside in an enclosed trailer that you could display with if you'd like.
Don, since it's a throttler we'll need to keep water to it so I expect it will go near/in one of the buildings. Have to see what the space looks like when we get there. On the plus side we're coming a day early this year!!
Feature engine or not I think it goes without saying that everyone is welcome at CPM...

Didn't see the date for the 2014 show on the flyer.
From their website I see it is around the 19th of June.

I've got foreign engines and I am sure I could bring a couple that no one else would have there. Unfortunately hauling engines from Oregon to Pennsylvania and back would take too much time and too much money for fuel and motels.

Like Tanner, I'm thinking 2015 is most likely next one I'll go to and I'll fly back there.

I think the phrase featured engines are a way to draw attention to a certain style of engine that might not normally get attention or a way to educate others of a engine that normally others would not see.

I guess we could have left the Petter HS12 on the trailer for the trip to the 2014 spring show. He is feeling a bit smug right now, being featured two years in a row,

Nothing wrong with a Petter!!
Since there's likely no way of knowing how many foreign engines could show up does anyone else care to share what they plan to bring??

Our plan is to bring the Scharrer & Gross shown here. And I'm trying to convince Mom to bring her Little Tuerk engine made in Berlin, Ontario.

We have a lot of choices since we kinda centered the collection around British makes. The MP Blackstone and the KB National diesels have not been shown yet. Maybe a Bamford or two if we have room.

Great idea D.A.
Since I've already shown our planned exhibit here's a few that qualify but aren't likely to make it:

First a trailer full of Goold Shapley & Muir engines made in Brantford, Ontario running at the Huron Pioneer Threshers Reunion in 2011.

Second a Monarch made in Dunnville, Ontario running @ home.

Third another Monarch running @ Blyth this year.

And finally in the heavyweight division our Tangye oil engine running at our show this year right after being hand started for the first time since before it was at the Anson 20+ years ago...

Enjoy

Here is a link to the Snow Engine Dedication at Coolspring Power Museum on Friday, 10/18/2013. 600hp weighing in at 140 tons. You might need to turn it up!

See post 21 for link.

I'll try to fix it tomorrow. I had to convert the files to something that would stream on internet, which apparently failed. Please bear with me.

This link should work. It has 16 views and loads for me. I only watched it once to make sure it worked, so it appears others viewed as well. Thank you for the feedback. I hate when links don't work.
