On page 20 of Montgomery Ward's "Bull's Eye" engine catalog they show this "Competitor" gasoline engine which is shipped directly from the factory in Iowa. This one is no Jacobson. Who built it?

Finally got around to digging my Jacobson out to get pictures of it. I sent info to Denis for addition to the registry. This has been a very informative thread. Thanks to all.

Another picture of the factory. Too bad it wasn't a little more to the right. There is an oil well there. Can't see what kind of engine is there.

If you need Jacobson information or parts feel free to contact me.

Lets keep the thread going.
Also, keep sending your information to Denis.
I believe that there are at least 500 maybe even 1000 Jacobsons out there.

Denis; I think that the engine registry has done quite well. It has been a little over a month and many engines have been added-a lot with pictures.
Everybody with a Jacobson made engine please send in the information. Don't feel that you must send a picture. A picture is nice but the serial number and other info is important for the registry.
Thank you for your work Denis!

Hi Don, you have been of great help too for someone who hates to type and used to be computer shy. For me it is not work, or if it is work, it is work I like to do.

Prior to starting this thread on Jacobson and after checking for prior post on SmokStak I was surprised to see that there was almost nothing about the Jacobson Machine Mfg. Co. of Warren Pa.

We have gathered a lot about Jacobson in a short time and I'm sure that with your help, much more info can be gathered and shared with everyone.

Don, you are correct, info about a Jacobson can be added to the registry even if pictures are not available at this moment. Pictures can always be added later when they become available.

Everyone, don't be shy and send in anything you have about Jacobson and Jacobson built engines and related literature and old advertisements.

This is the nicest color illustration I've seen of the Bull's Eye engines. I believe this illustration comes from a Montgomery Ward catalog, but not sure where I "borrowed" this photo from?

Here is a Titusville engine that uses the model U cylinder and was factory made into a sideshaft. 2 1/2 hp ser no 18008. The valves are accessed through the water hopper. if it weren't a sidshaft it would be a Unito. Probably made 1924. Now my engine.

I doubt there is another one just like it. Jacobson probably only built 2 or 3 like this to start with. When you say now my engine. is the "now" like "today"?

Here are some pictures of our 5 HP Jacobson to add to the registry. It is a Titusville, PA engine with serial #19057. In the last picture, you can see the original cast cylinder plate with 4 pedestals. Not sure what was originally mounted on top of this? You can also see a groove in the inner hub of the off side flywheel for running a belt to theoretically whatever was mounted on top of the cylinder. We've had this Jacobson running nicely, and plan to give it a new paint job one of these days. It would not look the way it does today without Don's help! Many thanks!

Jeff,
Maybe there was a mechanical lubricator mounted on top of the cylinder.
