Default Maytag Upright Model G carb

Does anyone have a parts list or can explain to me how the Maytag model G carb works? Mine ran great a year ago and now I'm getting very little fuel.
It will run for about fifteen seconds and then die.
thanks
Justin

Justin, I have not worked on a G carb. upright before but, this is true for all two strokes. There has to be some type of air check valve that will allow fuel and air to be drawn into the crankcase when the piston is going up and close to pressurize the crankcase when going down. On the early uprights they used a troublesome rotary valve on the crankshaft and main bearing. If there is any slop in the crankshaft or excessive end play it will not work correctly. The later uprights used a poppet check in the carb. Modern 2 strokes use reed valves. The first thing that I would check on yours by your symptoms is to see if the check valve on the fuel pickup tube is clean and working correctly.

The fact that it runs for 15 seconds points to one of 2 things. 1) excessive bearing clearance - as the engine heats up, it sucks more air thru the bearing, thus starving the engine. Or 2) you might have debris in the fuel tank, and that is jamming the inlet screen or pick up check. Once the engine quits, will it re-start after a few minutes? You might check the spark plug too, for fouling.

I can't find any type of check valve although I agree it should have one. It just ran last September so I don't see a bearing issue because it seems tight to me.

Here is what I can tell you it gets a little fuel initially runs for about fifteen secs then misses really bad with a white vapor coming out the intake.
