In years past I've had a Maytag single 92 with the "19" sector gear, gear housing, etc...and I never knew what the model 19 was really for...was it just a series of parts that could be bolted onto any 92? What was it meant to drive and why the change from a 92? And finally was there a special "sub model" of the 92 that the 19 parts were fitted to (like a long tank, short deep tank, short shallow tank, etc?)
Just never knew what it was all about and I have a chance to pick up one worth the money. Thanks. R. Kern |

All maytag engines were model numbered according to what washing machine they were attached to. Example: a model 80 washing machine was electric powered and an 82 was gas powered. The engine was assigned a model 82 designation too. The model 19 is a single cylinder engine version specific to the model 19 washing machine. It had a offset kick peddle and caution tag riveted to the segment cover. This was because the model 19 washing machine is a round tub and the engine is tucked in at a 45 degree angle. They did not make many of the 19’s because the singles were being phased out for the twins at the time.
