Exclamation Re: Bill Lopoulos?

If you have him work on your mag at a show, he does great work. Parts reasonably priced too. Personally I would not let him take a mag home. See other posts on him for details. he probably will be at Jacktown in a few weeks.

Newbie to the forum...was also wondering if anyone has heard from Bill recently? I sent him 2 magnetos at the beginning of August. Had been in contact and he told be it would be into the Fall before they were done, which was fine. Now I can't get in touch with him via the phone number listed or email. Thanks

Try using another phone just in case he has your number on caller id and then he wont pick up. This guy sounds like the most unreliable bloke ever to send anything to. Ever since being a member of this great Forum it has been the same old story for years.

Best of luck fella!

Haven’t got them back yet. Been in contact with him several times. In the event that they’re gone, I am able to find another Bendix magneto for the outboard motor. However, the coils on this unit are also cracked and need to be rewound. Is there anyone who works on these types of magnetos?

I have successfully repaired a Bendix coil by removing all the cracked insulation and corroded windings. Then reconnecting the high tension winding to the output tab and encasing the coil in epoxy. May be worth a try.

Its amazing how people have been posting as far back as 2004 of having the same issues. I would say shop around and do your research before sending anyone anything.

Same here, just reading this thread on the bloke you would NOT think about using him for anything even if he stood in front of me to do it!

Timely manner arent words I would use to describe all the posts about turn around time or being able to contact through phone or email. If your business is gonna jerk people around that bad for over a decade on average because time constraints of life for whatever reasons that you cant provide services within a reasonable amount of time or be in contact then maybe you should hang it up. A Google search turns up numerous threads by numerous people over numerous years. Ive never seen anything like it except on some VW forums about a vendor that does the same thing. I agree unless it can be done at a show in front of you then really give some thought about it.
