During an old shed removal I found the parts in the attached pics. They look to me like hit and miss or throttle governed engine parts. The two rings are 3 3/8" OD x 1/4", with an angled split. The throttle and lever assembly may be for a throttle governed engine. Head gasket looks like it would fit an engine with 3 or 3 1/8" or 3 1/4" bore. Piston pin is 1" dia by 3" and the bushing is stuck on it. The valve looks like it is two piece with a cast head staked onto a mild steel stem. The valve has a square wrench / driving boss on the cylinder side - maybe for grinding? Fuel pipe and ignition wire were with these parts.
Anyone know what they might be? If you need me to measure anything just drop me a PM. If these parts are of any use to someone I'd be glad to trade for what have you. I can ship them anywhere if the receiver will pay for the shipping. |

The parts appear to be from a 1½ hp IHC type M ignitor engine. The throttle shaft is homemade, at least the end of it is. The gaskets are hand cut. The valve should have the IHC logo on the head. Cylinder bore size is 3¼".

Thanks very much Kirk for the fast reply! I'll put the valve on my wire wheel tonight and see if I can see the IHC logo on the valve head.

Finally had a chance to apply the wire wheel to the valve head. I didn't find the IHC logo as I had hoped. Instead, I found two "96" numbers marked, and a dot, and to the right of the dot, an I or J. The numbers and the dot and letter marks were spaced roughly 90 degrees apart on the cylinder side of the valve head. There were no marks on the stem side of the valve head.
Anyone seen that type of marks before? It could be this valve does not belong to the same engine as the rings, gaskets, and throttle of an IHC as Kirk suggested, or maybe the valve is also homemade from a scrap of cast iron from a plumbing fitting or water valve. Still a bit of mystery! thanks for any help ID'ing the bits. |
