Question B&S 2 spark mag

I have a B&S 3 pole coil that was on a 5 HP aluminum block 5 HP engine. it was on a MOPECO heater/blower unit, built in the 1960s I do not have the engine, but would like to know if that mag is still available. One high tension lead went to the spark plug, the other went to the gas burner/heater ignition system Thanks,
Andrew

Sorry about this silly question Andrew.

But would it be possible to jump another HT lead from the spark plug to run to the heater?

Trying to fire two plugs off of one high tension lead will probably not work. The plug in the engine will have more resistance due to the compression and the other plug will see all of the spark.

I think Craig DeShong has at least one Lauson engine that has dual HT leads on the coil for some kind of military heaters.

Cobbadog, John has it exactly right. You need both ends of the high tension side of the coil to get a twin spark. 2 ways to get it - either have twinned coils on a common armature , or as i noted 2 live ends of the high tension coil. B&S used the single coil, 2 lead out type. On later MOPECO heater/blowers, the company used a battery igniter for the burner. They also tried a piezio electric igniter, like those used in grills, but engine vibration destroyed the crystals pretty quickly, so they went back to the battery jobs. The coil I was looking for was mounted with 4 bolts - engines built back in the 1960s.
