Question 1 HP Mogul Magneto

How hard are these to find? What price range are they in? I've run across a Mogul without mag and want to make a fair offer on it, but not knowing about the mag and the cost kinda puts me at a disadvantage. Thanks for any help and thanks Harry

Well... I have seen a few of these mags on That Popular auction site.... And they seem to sell for from about 300 to 400 Bucks... Pot Metal ones being Cheaper than the Brass ones...

Tom, I purchased one at the Portland show last year for $290. The shaft was stiff and the magnets had been reversed on each other but once I got that straitend out it worked fine. So I guess the $300 to $400 range would be about right. Buy the way that was for the pot metal International Type 'R' and was the only one I saw at the show save for a very few of the mag vendors or on the engines themselves. I think Mark at Mark's Magneto had them at the same show restored for I believe $350. These are also the same mags that went on the International type 'M' 6 hp engine (igniter fired). I don't think they are near as common as the type 'L' mags that went on the 1 1/2 hp & 3 Hp Type 'M'. Hope I'm right on this and helps you out. - Kevin

Hi Tom, Try and get a mag with the gear on it. Otherwise it could cost you $30.00 to $60.00 more for the gear.Greg.
