I heard they were having trouble keeping the roller in gear. Well, I guess it came out of gear and started rolling down hill. The operator bailed and the roller ended up nestled in some trees. Glad nobody got hurt. Could've ended badly. Got this through the grapevine, so take it for what it's worth.

I heard the operator thought he was on flat ground so he could shift gears, he wasn't and it got away ! Could have been much worse .

Brian's description matches the one the operator told me. He thought it was level and attempted to shift gears when it started rolling backwards. He jumped off just before it went over the edge. I still cannot believe it didn't tip over since it was at such an angle to the edge of the road!

These horrible pics are with my cell phone about 5 minutes after it happened. I was in building nearby with the Parmeco Hvid when it happened, and the engine is still running in the pic.

The driver seemed ok immediately afterwards, but later was limping really bad...

I was there and somehow missed this event. That looks like the road up to the 600 hp Snow project. If it is, there ain't nothing level enough on that road to shift gears. I wonder if he was geared to high and tried to catch a lower one to pull the a hill? At least it stayed shiny side up and didn't run over anybody.

I don't think he was hurt that bad - If you've ever done something like that, you've walked that way, too.

That's how you walk when you really need to change your shorts!

Take care - Elden
