Check post 50 and you will see the mixer . It's the air intake opening through the mixer . The small brass tube is the fuel pickup from the fuel needle valve and fuel bowl on the mixer. On the intake stroke the air is sucked through this opening past this tube and pulls fuel through it by the vacuum created by the air flow into the engine. If the needle valve is closed, no fuel, no run. If the needle valve is open to much, to much fuel is drawn in and you get a lot of black smoke (to rich), etc.... The spring inside is part of the running engine mixer choke system in addition to the choke in the intake pipe. This opening is roughly 1 7/8" that allows a lot of air to be drawn into the engine. Maybe to much to run a T/G'd engine slow . I guess I'll find out.... one of these days....

The back nut that holds the igniter/magneto bracket in place is a bear to get at . You can get a 7/8 open end wrench on it, but you have a very limited rotation. It just doesn’t work well in this tight place. The 7/8” box is better, but just a bit thick to slide down in between the igniter trip spring and push rod and over the nut on the igniter. Soooooo what is one to do, again, improvise. I took the extra 7/8” Superwrench I had and ground off the boss, about 1/8” on one side and rounded the edges off a bit. Now it slides down, in between all that stuff and onto the nut like it was greased. Sure works good for me, even in NJ, on the way through, where the cold weather is a coming. DARN…….

The first photo is of the nut, the second the modified wrench, and the third the wrench on the nut. NICE HUH…. .

Got to looking at that IHC red battery/toolbox and decided it doesn't look right with the engine. But what is one to do . I went looking around and found one that looks better with the engine as it is , and put it on in place of the red one .

The big fuel tank arrived at Coolspring and now needs to be installed. In looking at the old one, it sure looks repairable to me , and I'll try to do that before I put the new one in . Here is a photo of the old and new one. Starting to think this big boy is a bit big for me, and just might become available, SOON . If interested in this 10 HP IHC Titan portable,(I'll consider offers/trades) send me a PM. THANKS-

Of course it pumps water across the screen as seen in previous photos in this post.

Trying to get it running slower , but it just doesn't want to get much below 100RPM . Like I said before, it's a bit big for me, and it's available. I would take quality models I don't have in a fair value trade. If interested, PM me on Harry's, or send me an email.

Friday it was time to say out with the old and in with the new fuel tank. I put the hangers in place and hung the tank which was the easy part. Then came the task of pluming the tank lines to the fuel pump, fill and overflow from the mixer. Sure was fun as none of the ¼” piping were standard nipples . It took a few hours of measuring, cutting, threading and doing it all over again to get the right fit. Once done, I added gas, pumped up the fuel to the mixer and had no leaks, except for the bottom rear corner of the tank where the seam wasn’t folded tight when soldered . Anyway, the new prospective owner showed up Sunday morning, saw that the tank was installed, checked it carefully over again, we pumped up the fuel, set the mixer, oiled it up, and he started it on the first cycle, played with it a bit, shut it down and said “SOLD” .
