Rod and Patty: This is a very nice photo essay of the Coolspring 2011 fall swap meet. I even see things I missed (as usual ). Folks that haven’t been to Coolspring that see these photos just have to make it a must do trip in 2012.

Even with the poor weather, we all had a great time, especially Saturday night running a couple of the newly installed Bessemer’s at the “GROUP”, pot luck dinner headed up with the “FAMOUS” K.K. vegetable soup , New England Clam Chowder and a few other delectable items with nothing left over, and folks looking for more. I hope this becomes a “Coolspring” tradition.

Many “THANKS to Patty and Rod” for sharing there Coolspring moments with those that were there and those that weren’t. It’s always a good time at The “Coolspring Power Museum” .

and now, the rest of the story.
on the way home i always pass by this house in newport ohio that has old stuff sitting in the driveway. i always look to see if anyone is out so i can stop and check it out. never anyone out, till this time. there was a guy in the driveway with an old wood planer with the wood chips flyin. i did a u-turn and went back. his name was jim hill. he told me that he got the old wood planer from a guy in marietta named gary arnold. i told him i know him well. he said the planer was used to build the old arnold homestead around marietta. he had an old briggs on it. the briggs was a model 14 # 3407 from what i could see. also had a spence pump jack reliable jr. that was made about 3 miles from my house in parkersburg wv. when i was getting ready to leave he said, if you go out that road over there about 7 miles and make a right, go 5 more miles and there is a little show going on. it was late in the day, my wife and i were tired and hungry, so of course we took off across the hills. following will be the wood planer, then the show we found with his directions, and then what we found on the way home, the back way.
