Don, I've noticed various numbers on the Underwriters' tag. Can you explain the significance of these numbers?

2nd and third are the "automatic" engine

Original factory advertising about 1906
1st is heavy governor weight engine for close rpm
2nd is a large cart mounted engine
3rd and 4th are of the factory at the end of WWI 1917

I wonder if the 5hp vertical Ruger engine referenced onto the Jacobson Machine Mfg. "Proposal" is still around.

I will send serial numbers of 16 of my engines and pictures of some of them to the registry email later.
I am just trying to get used to using the site and sending stuff. Don

I have not heard of the "Ruger". I assume that it would be the same as the Wards "Invicible" which there are a couple 2 HP left. Don

As with the engine tag the Underwriters tags were sequential. Only the engines with the Underwriters gas tank got the tag. If the engine has only the Underwriters tag I could possibly date the engine if enough Underwriters numbers could be found. Don
