Lou,

I am waiting for someone to ask what that gizmo is on your engine that resembles a pencil sharpener. Terrific idea!!!

Thanks.....Helen

Looking through Dave's pictures, I detect that a lot of shade trees are missing compared to previous years. Apparently the hurricanes removed a lot of them.

Harry,
Only one pine tree survived in the engine and flea market area.
Most of the big oaks in the entrance suvived with a lot of broken branches.
We were kinda expecting to see you there. Sure was looking forward to meeting you.
Thanks gain for a great site.
Lou in sunny Islamorada Florida (83 degrees today)

All the pines are gone from the Show & Flea Market area. There is one tree standing in the Flea Market field. It sure looked strange when we pulled in there Monday morning. The Band Shell destroyed the Fire Tower. The new Band Shell was completed to the point that it could be used during the Show.

Another woe for this years Show was the flooding of the Peace River caused by Sundays rain. Motorhomes had to be moved with no place to put them. They just moved them helter skelter on to the roads to the rear of the Park. Some people in tents were awakened by the water during the night. By Wednesday the river was back within its bank.

In my opinion if you had never attended this Show before, you would not have known that the hurricanes had occurred. There were many camper volunteers exchanging work for camping fees. It must have been a massive clean-up job.

We never so many blue roofs(tarps, that is) in our life as we saw during our travels thru Florida this year.

While at the Flywheelers, after the 18 hours of rain on Sunday, a small catfish swam by our display. There were periods during the rain that you could not see any grass on the Show Grounds.

Also I have never been in Florida when it was colder than this year.....Helen

I had to pass on this show. I had taken a fast trip down a ladder step and ended up missing a patch of skin off from my lower leg. I've been over a month getting it sealed back up again. From previous experiences at Zolfo, I knew that it could be a dusty dirty place, expecially with any wind or golf cart activity near by. I decided not to risk it.

Maybe I was just oblivious to it, but there was very little riding of any carts, even handicap, in the Show Area at Zolfo this year......Helen
