Default Sycamore 2007 Pictures

Here are a few pictures of some of the engines (and steam shovel) shown at Sycamore this year. I hope you enjoy them.

Here are a few pictures of an Avery boiler that is being repaired. I was told that it is for a 20 HP undermount. They are re-using the steam dome, throat sheet and backhead.

Dan,

Nice photos, thanks for sharing. That sure is one nice looking 25/90 dbl. cyl. rear mtd. Nick. Do you recall who owns that machine? Also, who owns the 20hp boiler that is being put together with a few of its original boiler components? They must plan to rivet this back together, as I see they are making provisions to do so. Who is doing the work? Once again, great photos. Thanks.

Lawrence

Lawrence,

Sorry, I do not remember who owns the N & S. I asked and was told, but I am terrible with names. I do remember that Marty Studabaker fired and operated it though. I was told they are planning to have it at Edgerton, WI next rear along with several other N & S engines.

Here is a link to the shop that is rebuilding the Avery boiler. There are pictures on the website from when they removed the boiler from the chassis. The site has pictures of other project they have done as well. http://www.wheatlandmachine.com/default.htm

The Nichols and Shepard belongs to the Wade Collection of Whitewater, Wisconsin. The Avery boiler is being repaired for Dave Snaider by Wheatland Machine & Repair.

Good Evening all-

I spent the weekend at the Northern IL Steam Power Club's 51st reunion and had a blast. I ended up running Steve Green's 28HP Minnie most of the weekend and what a treat that was. I have included some pictures of various engines. The 25-90 Nichols of the Wade Collection, A 9 HP Case, 28HP Minnie, 20HP AR Universal, and a 12ish HP (?) Frick. Enjoy.

Was Steve Green the one who bought the Minnie at the Marshall auction? If it is glad to see it running

Yes Doug that is the engine. It was really a fun engine to run. The 9HP Case was the one that was about 5 miles up the road.

BY what you have posted, that N&S being discussed must be one of those in the Wade Bros. collection. AND yes, this one, along with the entire Wade Brothers collection is the feature at the 2008, rock River Thresheree--YEP,the enitire Wade Brother's collection is being hauled to the Rock River Show in '08. Many of these fine engines have not been on public display in several decades. And Marty is one of those we need to thank for making this possible.

As indicated before the N&S is from the Wade collection. I see picture of Ron Taylor JR's Advance. I think the small N&S is Bruce Stenerson's.
Chuck is right on the money. Rock River's 2008 show is to feature the Wade Collection. Marty has been the head person working with the Wade Family on this along with other members of Rock River Thresheree and friends. I believe we might also have some past pieces coming the the Wades had owned also. Besides steam engines the Wade collection have several 2cyl JDs, Oilpulls, a large Minnie gas tractor, a couple of Eagle tractors and two Eagle power units, several threshing machines and implements also with some Old Caterpillars(they farmed with these in the 40's and 50's). Plus many other items.
