Default Cushman Scooter Wico 12 volt magneto wonít 🔥

Any body an expert on these magnetos ❓Asking for a friend. I talked it over with him, I canít seem to think of anything heís done wrong?
Itís wico 12 volt new ignition coil with 12 volt headlights coil and six volt taillight coil.
He trying to bench start before he put into the scooter.
We did a test of the points condenser with d cell and it fires.
Resemble and use flywheel nothing .
The headlight and tail light coils are not on armature for bench test .
What else ❓🤷_♂️
Oh the magnets are alternating north and south.
The coil armature is about .017 from magnets
Checked mechanical timing .
A tech at carpenters said the magnet 🧲 are strong enough from what he explained how to test magnets
Just have no idea whatís wrong ❓

I had a similar issue with a 4 hp Cushman. The problem was Grounding. What I had to do was run a tap through the head bolt holes where the shroud bolts go. Just needed a good ground for the plug to fire.

You could also try closing the gap down to 0.012" - 0.010". It is always a good idea to check and confirm all wires both earth and live but if you are hot off the battery then earth maybe ok.
Re-gap the coil and try that. It would be rare you have lost too much magnetism in the flywheel as I have flywheels here from mid 1950 off some old mowers and they are still strong but it certainly is worth making sure they are strong enough. For me I just drag a srewdriver shaft across the magnet and if it sticks it should be good enough to make a spark.
Hope it works for you so let us know how you get on.
