Jerry , I don't think Monitor made a 2 1/2 hp engine. If it has a single flywheel it's likely a 1 1/4hp. From your serial # it was probably built in the latter part of 1933 or early 1934. If it's the 1 1/4 hp there will be paper shems under the main caps . If it's not worn too bad you can remove some to tighten it up.

Jerry, If you got one flywheel, then it is a 1 1/4HP Monitor engine for pumping water and if you got 2 flywheels, then you have 2HP monitor engine or larger. Joe

I've got some parts thanks to old Iron Jeff. I got them cheap. I'd feel like I'm cheating him if I sold them for a lot of money so It won't cost much. The problem is getting them off the shaft. I don't have access to a torch for heat right now but if your not in to much of a hurry or can't find one anywhere else. Give me a PM. I'm looking for a few Monitor top ends. cylinder and water hopper. Anyone have some of them laying around???

Other than the drip oiler for the cylinder, I think all the lubrication on the inside of a monitor is splash, so you need to carve some crude oil channels in the bearings.
