Default Cushman Model 21 Type X- Carburetor

Hey guys and gals. My Cushman X has a carb from a Cushman Cub on it. (Smooth). It will not run with is, it only tries to chug about 3-4 revolutions. I'm needing help (I've tried about everything I can think of) or I need an original carb for a Cushman Model 21 Type X. Any input or help would be much appreciated! Thank you. -Derek

Having owned both I would think the cub carb would work just fine on an X. They are very similar. I think you should re-check the usual things; Spark, timing, fuel check valve, etc. Try covering part of the carb intake with tape to act as a choke. Possible bad gas? Bad spark plug?

Thank you turbo. I was leaning towards the carb. I'm using an antique plug though I will say I've usually always had good luck with. I'll mention that the throttle shaft is awful worn though and the carb leaks fuel everywhere. The check valve I'm using is that of another old engine and it is good. Timing is on the mark though compression isn't quite what I'd like. The valves seat well from what I'm seeing and the mag I'm using is very hot. This old engine has been my nemesis.
