Question Need De Laval Pacific Company Type F Help

A long distance young friend I met at the AACA Dodge Brothers forum has taken the plunge into engines...….
This is his first engine and it's a mystery to me.
The De Laval Company seems to have a much varied history and I have found nothing like this engine.
The short story is he got it to pop but it will not suck gas for anything.
I explained the need for a check valve which he did but still no soap...….
I asked if the intake valve flutters when he cranks the engine which it does.
The mixer is the big mystery...….
Ideas?

Thumbs up Re: Need De Laval Pacific Company Type F Help

After chasing cats long distance things came together...….
It turned out there was nothing wrong with the mixer which Matthew discovered and there already is a check valve built into the mixer.
After cranking his arm off he mentioned when the igniter was tripping...…..the trip was WAY off on the push rod and it was tripping when the piston was WAY down the cylinder.
I explained to him what to do and he had it running in no time flat but still late.
Unknown to me until I he showed me something on a video I realized it DOES have a retarding mechanism for starting so I advised him what he needed to do next.
He did and now it's running just as it should.
Yay Matthew...….

If he has FB, look up the John Lauson flywheel group, look in the file section, In PDF form, that engine is the type W, I think, made by Lauson for Alpha. If I remember right, the instruction manual was uploaded by a gentleman and a lot of old advertisements that go way back on earlier engines, that kind of show the changes they made and a time period they did it , since no build date records exist or known that anyone has found, those where destroyed when Lauson was sold around 1956 or there was a fire and destroyed is the buzz word..
