Okay, cough up the details that provide that detail! That is great to know. I suspect the 18 then 04 are the clue, but where did you find the support to that information?

Hmmm? Made it up?
I am not sure of the source, but I believe it is in the Goodsion parts books.

I will have to see if we have a parts book. I am sure you found something somewhere that tells you that, and it makes some sense.

Hamilton Brothers in Glen Huron were a Goodison agent, and sold many Oliver tractors. Oddly they were also a BA distributor as well.

My Wife and I just purchased a John Goodison Steam Tractor. We are told it is a 20hp. We are looking for any information we can find about the make and who out here may be a Goodison expert.
A few questions to get started:
1: Did Goodison ever offer a canopy for their engines? If so, what does it look like? Our has a canopy but it is not original and I would like to replace it.
2: The clutch has no wear surface on the shoes. Looks like cast on cast. Any thoughts?
3: What are the proper paint colors. I have seen pics online with a red engine and red wheels with green cylinder covers and tanks. I have also seen pictures with green engine.

Thanks for the info.

I did fire it once but I have not tried to pull with it yet. I assume cast on cast would slip quickly?

I have never seen a Goodison engine with a roof on it mysef but that does not mean they were not offered by John Goodison for their steam engines.Maybe Mr G Willikers could chime in and post some material from his Goodison catologs that he does not have as their might be some pictures of the roofs on these engines if any.If you go back to post #31 their is a picture of a 20 hp engine wich is very close to being the correct Goodison colour scheme

https://www.smokstak.com/forum/showthread.php?t=84663 . There’s quite a bit of Goodison info. Dave Stirk or the Searson’s will be able to help you out too.
