Didn’t work out Jeff. The day they went out to the grounds I got caught in meetings until late afternoon and they had to head back home.

Well it has been very cold and snowy this winter in Minnesota. Thought it would good to bring this back to the top. Chris Epping has a nice thread going on a 3&1/2 hp Otto that has brought a lot interesting discussion on Otto engines. 2020 is coming fast but there is still plenty of time to get your Otto engines ready for the Expo. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thanks for bumping this up Keven. We're looking forward to the show & to see what Otto's show up. We're just putting some finishing touches on the little 3 1/2. The plan will be to hopefully bring it to the show in 2020. For once I'm ahead of schedule!

I am planning on Rollag in 2020 looking forward to all the Ottos that will be there. Of course while I am there I will have to rub on the 100hp Charter that came out of Texas. I am already making reservations up there. If all goes well I plan to leave here in late July and not get home till the weekend after labor day.

Dwayne, if you were to stay a week longer you could make it to a very nice show at Albany, MN that happens the second weekend after Rollag. It's smaller than Rollag but there's a lot of good stuff there.

From my view, the show at Rollag this year was a huge success. The Case Expo in conjunction with everything else there, would be hard to duplicate. There was just so much stuff there to see and look at. We were there for 4 1/2 days and I still didn't see it all. We're looking forward to the Otto Expo, but whether you like Ottos or not, it's still about the best all inclusive show on earth. The Otto feature will just be a bonus.

I've been to the Rollag grounds a few times with Swed. I've never been able to make it there for a show. It sounds like next year may be the time to come. And, who knows, I may have an Otto to bring!

We went to Rollag back in 2003 before good video cameras were economically available, but this clip is still a treasure in my collection and a great reminder of a good time. You folks in Minnesota have a wonderful show location to attend and be part of. -- Harry

You have always been more than welcome. It would be awesome just to see you and have you experience what we love about our show. Bringing an Otto would be a most excellent bonus. We'll find a place for you.

Thanks for the video Harry. I've been doing Rollag for 53 years. That video seems like so very long ago. So many things have changed and so many things are the same. I never get around to the other displays because of our display so thank you for reminding me how many other wonderful exhibits there are at Rollag. I for one have never ridden the train or the carousel or watched a parade. I always encourage new comers to hop on the train to get a lay of the showgrounds, watch a parade, ride the carousel and head to the Otto building. The rest is just bonus stuff.

Want to bring this thread back up to the top. A lot of planning has been done this fall and we will be working hard on getting exhibitors and engines lined up for the Expo. Let me know if you are thinking of planning to attend or know someone with an Otto that would like to attend

We will be renting a new heavy duty forklift for loading and unloading of engines. There will be indoor display area for quite a few engines. Fuel and oil will be provided

Our last Expo in 2005 was a huge success with around 54 engines in attendance we would like to surpass that in 2020.

Hi

After visiting Eppings Engine Crank Up last year and Coolspring Power Museum this year in June, our next tour goes to Rollag in 2020. The show are held from the 4th to the 7th of September. Unfortunately, we only have the option of being present for 2 consecutive days...
Are some days better to be there than others?
And any recommendations for hotels nearby?
We look forward to visit US again and see you all

Mort & Helen,
You will love Rollag. That is great to hear you will be there! It is one of the best shows on earth. I would say Friday & Saturday would be the days to go. Friday is usually quieter and easier to find and visit with collectors. On Saturday the grounds get very busy as the public tends to come out on the weekend. So Friday is a great day to see the show & visit with engine folks. And the lines aren't so long to ride the train or do other things. There are lots of good hotel options in Fargo, which is only a half hour drive. Fargo also has lots of good places to eat and any other services you might need. Remember that this is the north country at the end of August. The weather could be anything from hot to frost and it can rain there as well. We'll look forward to seeing you at the Otto Expo!
