It appears that disc plow is one of the later versions, just by looking at that arm casting with it's newer style IH logo and R1 suffix on the part #. |Maybe a number 9

Annual FFA consignment auction was today and this followed me home:#8 Little Genius in 2-14s with the conventional btms missing only the counters for $40.00 which I figured I couldn't go wrong with. Last pic shows some of the original decalling.

Hey 53 Super M...I've got a plow just like that only on rubber and has the Super Chief bottoms with the 4 bolt shares. What's that bracket do-dad mounted on the coulter shank used for?

Mark,
That originally had the IH concave coulters on it,which the main bearing and blade assemblies are gone, only thing left are the brackets and stops. Plan on putting regular coulter assemblies on it if it pans out, kinda hope it does causethen I'll have a set of 2-14s to go along with my set of 2-12s. As said, can't go wrong for 40 bucks, worth that for parts.

Here's some shots of the shares and moldboards also the tailwheel which is in really good shape. Moldboards look to be stubble typeand usable, will probably build up the fronts of each one with hard surface welding rod along with the front landslide. Tailwheel has some cracks at the boltholes, will weld these also. Land wheel is little out of kilter, has a weave to twill try to get it straight again. Looks to be a good project.

Plough weight? We got some 3 furrow ploughs today from a friend cleaning up a yard. They are tractor drag type ploughs. Some are IHC. Does anyone have an idea what the shipping weights might be? He just wants scrap price for them so we could figure something out by weight. The IHC ones have fairly heavy beams and there is also a Cockshutt that seems heavy built. No pictures yet.
Thanx.

Good looking outfit. Looks like the only thing that plow needs is coulters. Don't see too many 5 -12"btm plows around.

That's gotta be scarce, looks like a great outfit. Hopefully it shows up at Le Sueur this year for the IH feature.

Hey guys, I recently picked up this John Deere plow on steel, wondering if anybody can help me identify what model it is, and maybe age? It looks more like a 2-12" setup than a 14", but I'm not sure. Flat steel frame beams, riveted construction. Land wheel has the axle wrapping around it, doesn't look much like most of the other old JD plows in that respect.

This plow beam has "520" stamped on it.

The other beam has "521"

It's also got cool looking John Deere lettering on the housing by the tail wheel.

Anybody have any ideas of what model this one is? It doesn't look quite as heavy in construction as the other JD plows I have.

Nice looking plow, It looks to be in good shape and very useable. It appears to be a 2 / 14 inch.

It would be a model 45 or 46 plow. Build 1922 to 23 per the beam numbers

Here is my latest plow project that is nearly done. This one is a 1939 Massey Harris #3 that was sold new in Pembina ND in 1939 along with a Massey Harris 101 super standard. It stayed on the same farm until I bought it in 2009. This plow had been used a bunch and plenty worn out. Lots of new square bolts to replace odd ones installed through the years, one new wheel to replace a bent and rusted original, new lift hub, new bushings to tighten up the wheels along with welded up axles, rebuilt coulters, new hitch, straighten all the bent original pieces. Still waiting on new plow bolts to finish the bottoms, and one pesky hubcap.
