Default While in Colorado we drove over to Cripple Creek

There's a gold mine there you should see. It's a strip mine. The gov shut down most gold mines in the 70s as they were a hazard to the environment. After looking at this on Google Earth it makes me wonder who's getting paid off here?

n

Go to Goolge Earth and look at this.

We rode the mine elevator down into a gold mine there in the early 80's. Quite a trip! The best was the old outhouse that was overhanging a cliff where there was a 100' drop from the hole down to a ledge. Creepy!

21,925 ft. is about 1000 ft. higher than the highest mountain on earth, Mt.McKinley (now Denali, according to Obama)...Colorado has some high mountains, but none that big.
21,925 is the "eye altitude" in that google earth view...
The pollution problem with gold mines was the cyanide they used to leach the gold out of the ore. That's pretty much a no-no any more.
I fail to see how a gold mine operating means somebody's getting paid off...there's more than one in operation still.
Last time I was in Cripple Creek I hit the jackpot on a nickel slot machine...paid for the gas & meals for the whole trip.
