Default signal corp. field radio genorator pe-108-e

i was given a 1944 military gen.,fired it up to make sure it ran. i plugged a grinder into it to see if it was generating,it was. then i was tuning the carb. and engine. got a good tune on it,then it started to smoke out of the control center! i took it apart to find that the wound resistor shunt was fried! further look i found a wire burnt off from the end of the resistor that goes no where!! if someone could send a picture of where the wire SHOULD GO,i would greatly appreciate it.i would also like to know what the resistor value of the wire wound resistor is so i can find a replacement.thanks.

I think the generator is DC current only. The grinder is AC only. That might be your problem. Good luck
