Default AOS6 International McCormick Hydraulics

Hi"
I am new to Smokestack, From the land down under.

I have a hydraulic problem with my AOS6 on the three point lift, it only stays up for a few seconds and comes down way too fast I have already replaces the 'O' ring on the control valve and checked the bypass valve, cleaned out the hydraulic tank and filter made no difference.

The next thing was to check the hydraulic lift cylinder, the first thing was the damper link was broken that explains the rapid decent, next I removed the piston from the cylinder, to my surprise there are no seals or rings and there is a roughly1/4" drilled hole in the piston top, no trace of any sealing devices no valve to limit the piston stroke nothing to stop the hydraulic oil going in to the diff oil from the hole in the piston.

Any one know if there are parts missing? or dose any one have a repair manual with an exploded view. it's got me stuffed as to how this lifted the weight of the linkages.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

An AOS6 is an Australian built tractor ( built in Geelong) I am not sure if the American W6 is the same in the hydraulic department, Someone in the Australian International club should be able to help you.

Hi' Again,
Just an update on the hydraulic problem, I decided to tare down the cylinder, found it is a hollow ram (cylinder) rod within a cylinder, the piston slides freely inside this cylinder and is connected via a connecting rod to the fulcrum on the lift arms, no hydraulic oil used in this part.

Yes this unit was built hear in Australia but it's hydraulics stinks of British engineering overly complicated in design and out dated technology for the time, Any thing British including British engineers was favoured by our Government over our own engineers and technology.

Any way I found the unit as a whole had suffered some serious damage in the past with the fulcrum for the lift arms being welded up and reinforced, the main problem with the hydraulics not holding became
obvious when I removed the Hollow ram, the piston was fitted with a considerably under sized "O" ring at some time, the previous owner said the hydraulics had never worked since he had it.

I have taken photos of the unit in various stages of tear down and will post them when I work out how to get them up.
