Thank you for posting this, casertractor. Does anyone have one of these or know about them? I was fascinated to read about the lawsuit claiming Lion stealing this design from Bull Tractor. The pictured ad seems to say that Lion won in litigation but I can't find that information.

From the specs in the ad, can we tell what engine was used? Did they use a Toro or a copy or go with something else? Water-cooled, opposed two cylinder L-head design, 5" bore 6-1/2" stroke, using a Wilcox-Bennett carburetor, in production in 1917? Is there any connection to Boring Tractor engines?

I can't find anything that specifies whose engine was used.
Gile engines of Luddington, Michigan, were very popular.

I was not aware that Gile made engines for other tractor company's except for their own tractor. They were also well known in the marine engine industry

Gile engines were in Gile, Little Bull, Challenge, Early Happy Farmer, Ford, Whitney, Lion, etc tractors among others. There were a few different sizes but the all looked pretty much the same.

Bull Tractor would win the lawsuit against Lion, but went bankrupt in the process.

I saw one of the Lion tractors in Illinois recently. Easy to mistaken it for a Bull.

Heres a link to the Andrus bldg in downtown Minneapolis if anyone is interested. It was renovated in 1983 and is part of an urban renewal area. It's quite a ways from the old Flour City and MTM buildings but maybe about 8 blocks west from the Rumely building.

I looked at it also but I would say it resembles the famous Ford tractor that started the Nebraska test.
