It looks like they were threshing "Muffin" stacks?

In the southwestern part of Missouri, muffin stack threshing was done this way. Here is a picture taken in September 1923 on the Christian Bachtold farm near Sarcoxie. My engine threshed these stacks.

Great story, thank you for sharing. My Grandpa was also a custom thresher in Graham County Kansas, he must have made money because he did it for many years. I’m not sure what year he switched from steam to gas. His operation was not nearly as profitable as the Mahoneys.

Here is a picture of an extension feeder Dad used on his threshing machine, it was on steel wheels. He put pneumatic tires on it. He threshed sudan for seed and they would put the bundles side by side going up the feeder.
