All of our domains are going to SECURE https and while it's being worked on, please excuse some of the errors.

No more nasty message when you run the Google site search.

Working on it with tired eyes! Goodnight!

I realize that "Everyday Humor" was very popular with over 800 posts on it. Only a few of which had pushed it over to Smoke and Flames, I should clean up the few and bring it back to Off Topic Two. This includes figuring out how to deal with Smoke and Flames.

As you might have noticed, I've been spending more time on here, sometimes into the wee hours of the morning. There is a lot to be done, including updating software and cleaning up twenty two years worth of coding mistakes. As with 800 jokes on the Humor thread, there a multitude of technical updates to be done. If I get it done right, there will be a little green padlock on each address to our pages indicating that they are secure.

We (Jeannie and I) have decided to stay at home instead of doing our normal summer getaway to the north or the west. There is plenty to keep us busy right here.

No one will believe you if you tell them but you have more spare time while you are working than when you retire. You have to live it to understand it.
I don't know if it is because your family and friends have a "to do list" for you or if your old age makes you so slow you don't get much done in the time allotted or,perhaps we just find,"hey, I can do that another day i am going to do something else"

My first programming was in manual Z-80 Octal machine language: 076 = load the accumulator. (1976)

Then Basic came along, but without floating point math. I connected a calculator chip to the parallel port and it would return a floating point calculation.

I also took an IBM Selectric typewriter and installed solenoids for the 6 bit character selector, a strobe, a space and a carriage return. Connected to a parallel port, it was my computer printer. This was before Apple, or the IBM-PC existed! In those days, it was a big deal to play Lunar Lander or translate morse code to the display screen. A whole world of exploration was going on in the 70's and now the Chinese are doing it for us.

And now, I too am obsolete.
