The 6hp portable and the 12hp traction pulling it in some other pics, both belonged to Gil Cowden.
The 9hp in the photo above (post #37) is Dan Heidl's according to the 1960 program.

Brad's Dad's spare copy of the 1962 Program arrived today. Thank you! It adds more history.

I have to smile because "LEROY W BLAKER" and "Mrs. LeROY W BLAKER" are typed in caps under the NTA Officers.

In reading the 1959 Program-also kindly posted from Mr. Kelley's collection, I note that the famous Port Huron wheel dedication was listed in the program for June 26, 1959.

This made me look at the NTA Secretary's book to see what the minutes said. They notate the dedication, but also of interest that NTA was gifted with "original photographs of advertising used by the Port Huron company during its lifetime." I wonder what happened to them?

Additionally, I was intrigued that one of our members was Mr L.K. Wood of Mendon, Utah. He was presented with his charter ribbon. Utah would have been quite the trip to come for the show. I'm amazed at how the news traveled and far folks would drive--without the aid of our expressways and toll roads.

Hello FB and Smokstak friends, I was visiting Bill V. last night. Bill attended NTA since 1959. This week we are planning to sort out all of his thousands of NTA photo slides 1959 and latest of Montpelier and Wauseon Ohio. The photos were about everything taken at the show. I would be glad to help him identify pictures because his eyesight going blind one of day, He definitely going to write the history of NTA. He has knowledge and visions over the years, At that time he had expensive quality camera and slide machine. He told me a brief history about Montpelier. The show was bit smaller and fairground not open to public on Sundays. They were not allowed to run or blow any whistles on Sunday. At that time NTA already got the plan to move another location at Wauseon for 1965 show. That makes more room for all exhibitors and activities for entire weekend show. On the very last day of show on Sunday in 1964. He remembered most steam engines blew the whistles loudly. Fairground notify unexpectedly silenced. He showed me many small boxes and three large egg boxes of NTA pictures. I say it is a WOW! That many! Some of you guys might remember some photos when I post this soon. I told him about 75th Anniversary show. He said Oh! I got a guy to transfer all NTA pictures to DVD asap. He knew there's 75th memorabilia collections coming up! NTA members of all exhibitions interests in history to all citizens old and young of families and friends. Picture here below. All boxes tightly fit stored in two closets!! he said lot of photos are aged that can duplicate quality. Stay tune!

At the show about 1975 there was a guy who showed a 16 MM movie of the D&RGW Narrow Gauge RR. There were scenes carefully taken from various sites to get spectacular views. I hope that this movie gets saved. I have a good 16 MM projector which could show that original movie.

Yes this particular Baker model is still around. A new boiler was made and it is awaiting completion of the restoration.

Just a reminder, for those of us who forgot to reserve our rooms for 2019, rooms are getting scarce.

There are 4 within walking distance of the showgrounds and more beyond.

Here's a copy of the newspaper article of Edgar Bergen (for those who remember him/them) and LeRoy Blaker from 1951.

According to the Secretary's Notes, Edgar Bergen of Hollywood, CA had his 50 hp Case at National Threshers. Might anyone know more history on the engine and what happened to it?

I attached a picture from 1970 of Earl Davison's 20 Avery. The second is on Brad's photos from 1960 which I think is Louie David's.
I confirmed that this is/was Louie David's 20 Avery as owned by Earl Davison in 1970.

Beth, I have a letter somewhere from Edgar Bergen to my dad, talking about steam engines. He listed his engines, the Case and a couple others. Unfortunately no serial numbers though.

Thanks Steve, perhaps with this jolt some new memories. Chuck Sindelar would probably know. I need to dig out the information that he sent me on Blaker and see if I can find anything.

The show plans are coming together. We have a tentative list of engines and they look great. Unfortunately, the Highwheeler doesn't appear to be coming However, there should be 2 Uptons there--a traction and a portable.

I'm excited to see the 75th Anniversary book. They tried to keep it to 100 pages, but there were just too many great pictures that have surfaced (thanks to all that contributed!) It looks like it will 124 pages! I've got my reservation in for at least one.

There are more items that are coming.

Make your plans and note that the old Arrowhead Motel has closed. If you stayed there or had a reservation, call now.

Is there going to be a way to purchase the anniversary book if we aren't at the show?

The commemorative items will be available at the show under the grandstand. They should be available at the Spring Meeting which is open to all members. April 14 @ 12:30 in the Junior Fair Building on the North side of the Fulton Co Fairgrounds.

Here's the secretary, Michele Johnson's NTA email: michele.johnson.nta@gmail.com. Shoot her a note with questions.

If anyone close to you is attending, perhaps they can bring one back for you. that

Beth,

Please add my uncle, Ralph Lee. He attended the very first show at the Blaker farm. He attended every show until his passing at the age of 93. He was the main contributing factor in my interest in steam. Thanks, Gerald
