Default Ed Bezanson

The antique tractor community has lost another of its pillars. Ed Bezanson, "The Connecticut Yankee" passed away last night. I received a call with the sad news from his son Peter a few minutes ago. Ed was an enthusiastic friend of the antique tractor community who wrote the "Yankee's Attic" department for Antique Power magazine for over 20 years. I wish to thank Ed for his contribution to the antique tractor community.
Ed was also a personal friend who will be greatly missed.

Ed was a great fellow. It is hard to imagine the knowledge we have lost with his passing. He had a wealth of information about tractor mechanicals, Caterpillar and Fordson tractors, and many other makes.
I talked with Ed several times in the last few months. He knew what was coming at him but he said he was going to give it a good fight - and he did. I think he stayed fairly active until the last few weeks.
One thing Ed told me, was the love he had for Smokstak. He said that posting on Stak, and having fellowship with other Stak members, was very important to him. It must have been even more important in the last year.
Best wishes to Ed's family and his close friends.
May you rest in Eternal Peace Ed.

My heart sank a little when I picked up the phone and Peter said who he was. I was afraid of the news I was getting ready to hear. Ed was a great guy that had a true, down deep, sincere appreciation for not only the tractors, but the history and the people associated with them. I know he was especially proud his boys were going to carry on his collection. He told me that, it meant a lot to him. Godspeed my friend, rest in peace and I'm glad you are no longer in pain.

Ed was also a great friend of the Historical Construction Equipment Association (HCEA) and was for many years a fixture at our annual shows especially out east. I also wear his IHC shirts proudly and enjoyed speaking with him whenever I had the chance. Very sorry to hear he is gone. Mike Androvich, President HCEA.

Sad news...…. :(
Ed wasn't only knowledgeable but generous too.
I helped him with something here at STAK a long time ago and he offered a Tee shirt to me..….. :)
I politely declined his offer for the reason I don't wear tees but it's the thought that counts.
I too enjoyed his writing style.

I always enjoyed Ed's articles in Antique Power, as well as his posts here. A shame we have to lose so much knowledge when someone like him passes...he will be missed.

Sad news indeed. I consider Ed not only a fellow collector of Fordsons, but also a freind. Being a few hundred miles away, it was only every so often I would run into him at public sales or shows. Phone calls and emails were also a way to keep in touch, in addition to the Stak. I loved his sense of humor, and we enjoyed picking on each other! I will definitely remember all those great times. Rest in piece Ed. You will not be forgotten.
