Default 1952 Canadian military equipment help needed. Photos

I believe this is basic Cat built genny being finish built and enclosed by Crothers Cat in Canada. Its 9' long, 33" wide, 64" tall. Shows 00625 hours and i believe it. Its not locked up as i turned the diesel thru using the pony flywheel by hand. Its previous owners after Canada were, U.S.Forest Service, Ohio DNR Forest Service. I purchased as result of Government Service Auction. How can I find out about its Canadian Military history?

thanks 4 any help.

I suppose you could try these chaps:

https://www.toromontcat.com/

Or perhaps try the Historical Construction Equipment Assoc. for Ontario?

Info on Cat dealers in Ontario or Canada for that matter are a bit foggy (atleast to me anyway) as i have ads from Toronto Tractor & Equipment Company Ltd in Toronto from the thirtys so i am not to shure as to when Mr Crothers took over for Cat here in Ontario?

As Rick said you could also try the HCEA Canada

Canadian Arsenals was a "Crown Corporation", that is one owned by the federal government (in Canada that is officially "the Crown", because the Monarch is still Head of State and the term is used more or less synonymously)

They made a lot of good stuff fast, and more or less at cost: no $5000 hammers.

In the 50s Canadian Arsenals was sometimes referred to as the "fourth armed service" and governments swore up and down they would maintain it for ever and ever amen as the one guarantee that we would never be found wanting military equipment in time of emergency etc. Once Turdeau the First got into power back around the Summer of (self) Love, it all went downhill from there.

So..... Geo. Crothers Caterpillar Limited (dealer) built and sold this to Canadian Arsenals OR supplied the parts for Canadian Arsenals to assembly it? Having trouble understanding what Canadian Arsenals was/did.
