A "visual", its 1/2 filled with correct p/n and logo wrenches. The wrong 1's will be replaced as i find the right 1's the board was originally laid out for.

I own three much less spectacular Williams displays. My experience is that old Williams tools are not hard to come on EBay, often in lots.
Best of luck!

THANKS, You're exactly right, they made millions, but this display board is pre 1924 when they came out with the new logo and a longer wrench using the same part numbers.
From advertising i know they had 3 different display layouts using the 90" board. 1 pre 1924, 2 post 1924. (maybe more)
I tried using the longer wrenches and determined it wasn't gonna work. Post 1924 advertising confirmed the issue and now i'm gonna build a reproduction display board to use up all the post 1924 wrenches i got. (great excuse)
Thanks 4 the pm offers of help! (unexpected)

Williams tool info, http://alloy-artifacts.org/williams-supercompany.html

1916 product line page indicating part numbers for the 90" "Senior" board.
doubleclik 4 big

1925 hardware spec page. (longer wrenches)
double clik 4 big.

A couple of pix of my Williams wrenches for a 5 3/8" nut. They are 4' long & weigh about 120 lbs apiece. They were supposedly bought as a complete set in the 1930s for a large electrical generating plant south of Boston. In the early 1980s OSHA condemned the lot & they were all consigned to the scrap bin. A friend who worked there literally risked his job to spirit out the two largest ( these two) & brought them to my shop in New Hampshire. Needless to say they made the move down here to TN when I retired. Getting a little harder to move them these days but they certainly are an attention getter. Fred

Great wrenches Fred! Thanks 4 posting. I believe those are 21a's in super shape.

Here's me with a NOS 21c with 6 1/8" opening at a ag&tool museum while back.

I'd like to find a 4 footer for the new display board i'm gonna build.

Those are known as samples but they're actually regular production items for tight quarters. Nice 1's somewhat hard to come by less than $100. Thanks 4 posting.
Chain wrench info, http://alloy-artifacts.org/williams-...any.html#early

Here's my williams chain tong, its the biggest by williams at 87" long, 145 lbs. Its factory wired up and never been used. Got this at hudson valley engine club auction a few years back.
Like alot of hand tools the smallest and the biggest seem 2b hardest to find.

Well, in 1971, the supply store I work in, was and still is Williams. I've got a big top chest full of that era tooling. Hey, I checked and I have a No 31 double open end wrench not with the oval logo. If either of you would like it for your collection, Also a A1036? Its a chrome double open end, 11/16" x 25/32 and, I think thats what the 31 is, I'd have to check to be sure.

Thank u 4 the offer, but i'm into only oval logos 4 the board i'm working on.

The board i'm going to build will be filled with post 1924 "underliners" as i call 'em. I've got a bunch of em all different sizes to show off. Not really gonna go with any of the illustrated layouts from above. Just gonna get 'em in 1 place to show.

That is a nice display! How wide is the handle and the wrench head?
Be sure to post pictures of the build on your new board.

Head is 23" wide, handle 11" wide, opening 10 1/4" wide, depth opening aprox. 9 1/4" deep. I'd use 2 layer 1" plywood if u can find some.

I haven't started it only in my cranial puter about materials 4 it.

Be sure to post pictures of the ur build. Especially if the head lays out as single center point circle?
