Default help ID Briggs & Stratton engine

I just picked up a model NR6, Type 205679, serial number 396730. We got it running and it runes really good. What i would like to know, the year it was made and the horsepower. thanks in advance Jim

Looks like it was built in January of 1946. I think they were rated at 2hp.

Read the number chart again. The last engine built in 1945 was #396589. Jim's engine is #396730, 141 engines into the January 1946 production.

Confusing part is it claims the first engine built in 46 was "403653" so.. yeah.. who is to really say which way or the other it is?

The number shown is the last engine built for that month. #403653 would be the last engine built in January of 1946. The first engine built in January of 1946 would be #396590.
