Default 6.0 DJB remote start...remote battery maintainer

I just thought of this and wondered about it.
My little Onan has the remote start. handy feature to be sure.
I am wondering if I can just hook up a maintainer on the battery side of this start system.
At present I remove the battery and bring it to the maintainer.
Not really to difficult except an 8D battery weighs as much as me.
Any ideas about this would be appreciated.
Regards Chris

They make float chargers and also solar chargers. Which one would work best for you.

Off hand I can't think of any reason you can't put a standby charger on the battery, I would. An Onan transfer switch normally includes a charger. I'd be a little more careful if it is a smart charger that does an automatic equalize charge cycle once a week or something. I'd tend to choose something like a commonly available Schumacher 1.5 amp automotive maintenance charger. It is just adequate to put a little charge into the battery after it starts the generator and otherwise protects it from self-discharge.
