Default Ames Iron Works

We have discovered a portable steam engine in the woods in N. California. Probably used to power mining equipment. Intent is to remove it via Air National Guard helicopter, with aid of US Forest Service, for display. Cast into firebox door frame is "Ames / Iron Works / Oswego N.Y." Engine is two-cylinder atop boiler, exhausts into hollow engine bed w/ feedwater heater inside. Possibly self-propelled at one time but steered w/team. Seeking documentation, catalog pages, any other info. Thanks! Peter Hahn, Reno NV
