Default Antique for free

Had an antique given to me at work last week, it is an old height gage to be used on a surface plate. Kind of neat, but wondering how old it is. Has anybody seen or used one of these. It also has an adapter to hold an indicator.

Certainly before digital readouts arrived on the surface plate. Now, if I just had a surface plate, I could use this one or the digital one (gearing to crank it up and down is stripped) they gave me months ago. Anybody got a good cheap surface plate?

Unless I don't understand what I am looking at I think it will give a reading in thousands of an inch. There is 100 divisions on the top adjuster.

The gage turns very smoothly and travels the full distance. I don't think it has had a lot of use. For now when I need to use a surface gage, I use it on the Bridgeport table, close enough for the things I do. I really don't need to get a surface plate right away, I would just have to haul it to Colorado in a year or two. Got too much stuff to haul now.
Thanks for the comments.

Keep watching the ENCO site. They had a free shipping including truck freight a short time ago

I don't know if it is still on. I got my surface plate that way, with free freight.

Enco had a promotion a couple weeks ago, 25% off and free shipping. The budget didn't allow me to buy anything then.
