Default Jacobson Machine Mfg. Co., Warren Pa.

When were their first engines built and in what year did they stopped building engines. As the owner of a 5hp side shaft Jacobson built engine I was not able to find much discussion on SmokStak about Jacobson engines.

I'm even considering initiating another registry if you guys have pictures and data on your Jacobson to contribute to the project.

The highest serial number I've seen is 16656 so it is not a common engine but not that rare either.

Dennis, Do you have any information on when the operation was moved to Titusville? Thanks, Leonard

I think it was in the late teens early 20's when they moved to Titasville after the factory burned down in Warren. I have a 5hp tank cooled that may have been made in Titasville. It doesn't have a s/n tag and I can't find a spot that looks like it ever had a tag. I don't know if Don Worley goes on the Stak, but he could tell us a lot more about Jacobson. Dave

I believe Don Worley does do the Jacobson thing. I always wondered why some either had the short fluted hopper and some taller and some vertical and horizontal governors. Ive seen them both ways and mixed.

I found and looked at the Jacobson web site by Don Worley. Mr Worley is probably the most knowledgeable person when it comes to Jacobson engines. Unfortunately I did not find many answers to my questions on his web site. I think that a Jacobson engine registry along with dated magazine ads with teach us a lot about these great engines.

Your help is required for this project. I can't do it alone as I only have one Jacobson engine.

Your can send me your engine pictures and data for the registry at: buzzcoil2@videotron.ca

Thank you!

Were any Jacobson engines exported to Europe and Australia? No one from there have registered a Jacobson. Here in Canada I have only seen a handful of Jacobson engines and they sport the "MOODY" name tag.

Automatic engine with dynamo. Note use of water-spray in exhaust and gas regulator shell as a possible accumulator.

One with the mag bracket is more uncommon. It does look original down to the starting crank and skids. Should take the square gas tank and can muffler. Too bad you didn't clean off the serial number.

Bob, any chance you obtain the serial number off of the name tag? It would be interesting to know when it was built.

Don, was Todd an engine builder or a selling agent?
